From August 7th to 10th 2024, the Italian town of Canegrate hosted the World Seniors Mini Golf Championship. Our Czech team brought to this picturesque city not only their skills, but also their determination to face challenges - both on and off the pitch.
The Czech women's team did brilliantly and won the silver medal, which is a fantastic achievement that deserves huge praise. The men's team placed fourth in the competition against strong opponents, just outside the medal positions. However, this result is a testament to their tenacity and team spirit. Our men's team included none other than the head of MinigolfPark Maniny, Tomáš Navrátil, who contributed his experience and passion for minigolf (see photos below).
Conditions in Canegrate were challenging. The teams faced extreme heat that accompanied most of the tournament and caused power banks, which were crucial to ensure live broadcasts and other necessary equipment, to overheat. In the end, players had to improvise and cool the power banks in a cool box, which quickly became one of the main topics of the day. One day was even spiced up by a dramatic change in the weather, when hail began to fall from the sky, some even bigger than mini golf balls.
For fans who want to relive these exciting moments, a live stream recording from the tournament is available on the Facebook page of the Czech Minigolf Association link here. This tournament was full of emotions, sporting performances and unexpected moments that will be long remembered not only by players but also by fans of minigolf.
We thank our representatives for a great representation and all the fans for their support. We look forward to further successes of Czech minigolf!
